Area information
Greece offers many areas where you can sail. The Cyclades, the Sporades, the Dodecanes – a real insider tip, the Saronic Golf and the Ionian Sea. It is possible to charter sailing yachts and power yachts as bare boat charter or charter with crew everywhere.

Procedures for leaving and returning to Greece/GR / Transit log for Turkey

Prior to your departure from Kos Harbour or other port of exit from which you intend to leave Greece/GR the yacht and the charterers must be cleared to leave Greece/GR. The formalities for the yacht are as above. For immigration control it is necessary for the charterer to go personally to the immigration office with passports and crew list.

It is usually permitted to complete immigration formalities in Rhodes or Kos and visit in Symi or Kastelorizon before entering Turkey/TR. Please check with staff that this relaxation is current.

On your return to Greece after visiting Turkey you must again go through immigration control. It is necessary for the charterer to go the immigration office in Mandraki Harbour. Do not omit this formality as airport passport control officers may delay you.

Procedures for yachts entering and leaving Turkey/TR
Yachts entering or leaving Turkey must do so from one of the official ports of entry. The main ports of entry on the Aegean coast are Cesme, Kusadasi, Bodrum, Datca, Marmaris, Fethiye, Antalya and Alanya.
Entry is permitted under one of the following procedures:

1.    If you sail into a port of entry and stay no more than 24 hours before returning directly to Greece, no tax is payable. Other entry and exit formalities must be carried out.

2.
If you sail into a port of entry, stay within the jurisdiction of that port only, and return to Greece from that port and then you have to pay a tax of US $50. Your stay can be up to three months.

For example if you have sailed from Rhodes to Marmaris, paid US $50, you can then sail around the Gulf of Marmaris, the Gulf of Doris, Ekinjik Bay and back to Marmaris provided that you exit Turkey from Marmaris and have not visited any other port of entry. (If your holiday is just one week or you wish to split your time between the Dodecanese Islands and the Turkish coast this would be too limited an itinerary.)

Serious penalties can be imposed if you abuse the terms of this permit. Ignorance of the extent of the jurisdiction of the port of entry is no excuse.

If you sail into a port of entry with the intention of spending all or a large part of your holiday in Turkish waters and do not wish to limit your itinerary to just one area or do not wish to exit from the same port as you entered then if it is private yacht there will be charge of 50 dolars transitlog plus entery tax per person If visa required for the nationalty there must be visa apllication. If the boat is registerd comercial it is not allowed to emarbakate from another portas a law.

These regulations may change from time to time and you must check locally for changes. The best way to get the latest information please ask for the base stuff.

Transit log Turkey/TR
On arrival in a Turkish port of entry the skipper of the yacht should go immediately to the passport police , customs and immigration offices taking a crew list, passports and ship's papers. Details of these as well as of your proposed itinerary, tax paid, a customs declaration health clearance and harbour master will be entered in the transit log. No further formalities will be required thereafter until leaving Turkish waters.

After the issue of the transit log yachts may proceed to anywhere on the route which has been endorsed and may land without obtaining permission and without further formalities. The transit log is invalidated if you leave Turkish waters except comercial yachts (see note on Kastellorizon and Symi).

No additional members of the crew may board the yacht after entry into Turkish waters.

If you wish to avoid losing time for entry and exit clearance in Turkey, you can contact the offices of our agents in Marmaris, Gocek, Bodrum or Kusadasi who will do all the formalities on your behalf at 125 Euro per yacht for either entrance or exit.

Before leaving Turkish waters Section 5 of the transit log must be stamped by the Passport police , Health clearance harbor master, Customs authorities. The transit log is no longer valid following the completion of the proposed route, completion of exit formalities or after any departure from Turkish waters.

Enjoy our Greece-Regatta, the 12th Blue Horizon Cup 2010!
We sail a regatta on yardstick rules but with respect to the elements, the yachts and the sailing material. Beside the races there will be enough time to enjoy yourself and your holiday. The Cup starts at Lefkas and goes One-Way to Corfu. The date is:

09.10.2010 – 16.10.2010

You can take part with your whole charter crew or as a single or with two or three other people without skipper responsibility. The costs per person is Euro 350 plus board cash and travel costs.

During the different stages there are numerous possibilities and enough time to evaluate the regatta days. Communication between the crews is one of the goals of the Blue Horizon Cup and will be supported by us for example with meetings in Greek tavernas or invitations on board of the yachts.

You get to know other sailors and get to meet new people. Through this new charter crews are made, and this time you are alone and the next time you will be joining in the Blue Horizon Cup with your own crew on your chartered yacht.

The Regatta begins with a Welcome Party and naturally finishes with a Good Bye Party. You are invited by SO LONG Yachting and our Greek partner. For more information visit our homepage:
